Driver and Five Students Injured in Harlingen School Bus Crash on Ed Carey Drive near Glasscock Avenue

Harlingen, Texas (October 4, 2023) – Six people were injured on Tuesday in a school bus crash in Harlingen, according to the Texas DPS.

The crash happened around 4:06 p.m., October 3, in the 1300 block of N. Ed Carey Drive near the railroad tracks north of Glasscock Avenue.

DPS said a Ford Mustang was traveling in the middle lane when it changed lanes when unsafe and collided with a Texas DPS patrol unit that was traveling southbound on the farthest left lane.

The force of the impact veered the patrol unit onto the farthest right lane, where it collided with an IDEA school bus, which was stopped at a traffic light on the farthest right lane.

The bus was occupied by 32 students and the driver.

The bus driver and five students were taken to local hospitals with non-life-threatening injuries.

The DPS troopers are investigating the crash.

Common Causes of Automobile Accidents

There are many different reasons why automobile, pedestrian, 18-wheeler, bicycle, and motorcycle accidents occur, including driver negligence, driver inattention, texting and driving, speeding, fatigue, failure to yield the right of way from a stop sign, or private drive, running a red light, and driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs. While the factors listed above are the main causes of most accidents, there may also be other factors involved, which is why it’s important that an investigation be conducted before evidence disappears, especially in cases involving a fatality.  At Joel A. Gordon & Associates, we will act quickly to secure accident scene photos, interview witnesses, obtain police records, and secure other valuable evidence needed to win your case.  Call now for a free consultation.
