67-Year-Old Man Injured in Odessa Motorcycle Crash on East 52nd Street; Victor Mendoza III Arrested

Odessa, Texas (June 10, 2022) – According to the police, a 67-year-old Odessa man was injured Tuesday night in a hit-and-run accident in Odessa.

The accident happened around 11:00 p.m., June 7, in the 5000 block of East 52nd Street.

Police said the motorcyclist was traveling westbound on the street when a Mazda came out of an apartment complex right in front of him, causing him to crash.

The motorcyclist was taken to Lubbock hospital with a fractured pelvis.

The Mazda driver, Victor Mendoza III, fled the scene after the crash. The car was later found at the back of the same apartment complex with significant damage to the left front quarter panel and with deployed airbags.

Mendoza told officers that he had been drinking at the pool with some friends at the apartment complex before the crash and that he panicked because he didn’t have a driver’s license. He was arrested and booked into the Ector County jail on suspicion of an accident involving serious bodily injury. He was later released after posting a $10,000 surety bond.

The police are investigating the crash.

Common Causes of Automobile Accidents

There are many different reasons why automobile, 18-wheeler, and motorcycle accidents occur, including driver negligence, driver inattention, texting and driving, speeding, fatigue, failure to yield the right of way from a stop sign or private drive, running a red light, and driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs. While the factors listed above are the main causes of most accidents, there may also be other factors involved, which is why it’s important that an investigation be conducted before evidence disappears, especially in cases involving a fatality.  At Joel A. Gordon & Associates, we will act quickly to secure accident scene photos, interview witnesses, obtain police records, and secure other valuable evidence needed to win your case.  Call now for a free consultation.
