Seven Injured in Harris County Gas Explosion on Gleannloch Lakes

Harris County, Texas (March 6, 2021) – Seven people were injured Friday evening following a natural gas line explosion in northwest Harris County Friday, according to authorities.

The explosion happened around 5:30 p.m., March 5, in the 18700 block of Gleannloch Lakes.

Authorities said a CenterPoint crew was excavating near a high-pressure natural gas line when the line was hit, and it exploded.

Seven CenterPoint employees were injured in the crash. Five of them were taken to the hospital, and one of them had to be airlifted.

Two other victims had minor injuries and were not taken to the hospital.

At least CenterPoint trucks were burned, and no homes were damaged.

An investigation is underway.

“Texas has been the scene of some of the world’s most shocking industrial accidents in the past 25 years,” Joel A. Gordon, an experienced industrial accident lawyer, said. In the great majority of the cases, gross negligence on the part of the employer bears full responsibility,” he added. Numerous OSHA violations, fines, and deficiencies stand as proven evidence that employers repeatedly disregard the importance of worker safety by ignoring needs for proper equipment maintenance, employee protections around dangerous work conditions, and vigilance about employee health concerns or symptoms while working within unsafe circumstances.
