San Antonio Hit-and-Run Crash

71-Year-Old Woman Injured in Hit-and-Run near South New Braunfels Ave and IH-10 in San Antonio

San Antonio, Texas – According to the police, a 71-year-old woman was injured Friday night in a hit-and-run accident in San Antonio’s Southeast Side.

The crash happened around 9:00 p.m., April 5, near the corner of South New Braunfels Ave and the IH-10 East access road.

Police said the woman was driving a gray Volvo on the IH-10 access road when she collided with a black Lexus that was traveling southbound on South New Braunfels Ave. The impact caused the Lexus to veer left and collide with a metal traffic signal light post. A black Nissan Sentra, which was stopped at the red light, was also involved in the crash.

The Volvo driver sustained minor injuries in the crash but refused medical transport to the hospital.

The Sentra driver, a 46-year-old woman, was uninjured in the crash.

The Lexus driver, a 35-year-old, fled the scene on foot but was later located nearby by responding officers. He was evaluated for Driving While Intoxicated (DWI) and found to be intoxicated. He was booked for Driving While Intoxicated and Failure to Stop and Give Info.

The police are investigating the crash.

Common Causes of Automobile Accidents

There are many different reasons why automobile, pedestrian, 18-wheeler, bicycle, and motorcycle accidents occur, including driver negligence, driver inattention, texting and driving, speeding, fatigue, failure to yield the right of way from a stop sign, or private drive, running a red light, and driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs. While the factors listed above are the main causes of most accidents, there may also be other factors involved, which is why it’s important that an investigation be conducted before evidence disappears, especially in cases involving a fatality.  At Joel A. Gordon & Associates, we will act quickly to secure accident scene photos, interview witnesses, obtain police records, and secure other valuable evidence needed to win your case.  Call now for a free consultation.
