Alexis Sorrola-Villamil and Donaven Byers Killed in San Angelo Two-Vehicle Crash at S. Bryant and Avenue N

San Angelo, Texas (March 23, 2021) – The two teens who were killed in a hit-and-run crash on Thursday in San Angelo have been identified as “Donaven “Don Don” Dennis Byers, 16, of San Angelo, and Alexis Sorrola-Villamil,17, according to the authorities.

The fatal crash happened just after 6:00 a.m., March 18, at the intersection of W. Avenue N and S. Bryant Boulevard.

Authorities said an SUV ran a red light at Avenue N and hit a dark-colored truck at the intersection.

The force of the impact caused the SUV to hit a light pole, and the driver was ejected.

The dark-colored truck fled the scene after the crash.

Sorolla-Villamil and Byers, who were passengers in the SUV, were killed in the crash. GoFundMe pages have been set up for both victims.

The dark-colored truck was later found abandoned on Loop 306 westbound, and the driver, 24-year-old Benjamin Elder, was arrested. He was booked into the Tom Green County Jail on Thursday and charged with an accident involving death. He was released the following day on a $30,000 bond.

The crash remains under investigation.
