Alfred Sanders Killed in Hereford Two-Vehicle Crash on U.S. 60 near CR 8

Hereford, Texas (July 10, 2020) – One person was killed Thursday morning in a two-vehicle crash near Hereford, according to officials.

The fatal crash happened on July 9, on U.S. 60 near CR 8.

Officials said 66-year-old Alfred Sanders, of Hereford, was driving a 1999 Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck towing a flatbed trailer, eastbound in the outside lane of the highway. A piece of equipment fell off of the flatbed trailer, and Sanders slowed down.

Sanders then made an illegal left turn from the outside lane into the crossover and was struck by a 2019 Freightliner truck tractor towing a semi-trailer.

Sanders was pronounced dead at the scene. He was not wearing a seatbelt.

The semi-truck driver, a 56-year-old Hereford man, was taken to a Hereford hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. He was wearing a seatbelt.

The crash closed U.S. 60 near County Road 8.

Motorists were urged to avoid eastbound U.S. 60.

An investigation is ongoing.

We pass our sincere condolences to the family and friends of Alfred Sanders.
