Alicen Blanchard Akin Killed in Rusk County Pedestrian Accident on Highway 42

Rusk County, Texas (April 1, 2023) – A woman was fatally hit by a vehicle Thursday evening in Rusk County, according to the Texas DPS.

The deadly accident happened around 7:47 p.m., March 30, on Highway 42, about one mile north of New London.

DPS said a 2000 Lincoln Town Car was traveling northbound on the highway when it struck Alicen Blanchard Akin, 30, of Overton, who was in the middle of the highway.

Akin was pronounced dead at the scene.

The DPS is investigating the crash.
