Alyssa Clinger Dies in Hit-and-Run Crash on Lee Trevino Drive in El Paso

Fort Bliss Soldier Alyssa Clinger Dies One Day after El Paso Hit-and-Run Accident on Lee Trevino Drive

El Paso, Texas (June 14, 2022) – The woman who died after being struck by a hit-and-run driver early Sunday morning in east El Paso has been identified as Alyssa Rae Clinger, 20. She was a Fort Bliss soldier.

The accident happened around 12:35 a.m., on June 12, on Lee Trevino Drive.

Clinger was crossing the street from the westbound curb to the eastbound curb when she was struck by a southbound pickup truck, authorities said.

Clinger sustained serious injuries and was taken to a hospital, where she died from her injuries the next day.

The pickup truck driver fled the scene after hitting the victim. Authorities described the truck as a light-colored, possibly white or gray newer model pickup similar to a Chevrolet Silverado or GMC.

Authorities said the truck possibly has front-end damage.

Police are still searching for the hit-and-run driver. Anyone with information on the suspect’s whereabouts is urged to contact El Paso Police at (915)832-4400.

An investigation into the crash is underway.
