Anatalio Gallegos Killed, Michael Navarrette and Shawn Reid Injured in Ward County Crash on SH 18 near Grandfalls

Ward County, Texas (March 29, 2022) – One person was killed, and two others were injured Sunday evening in a crash in Ward County, according to the Texas DPS.

The fatal crash happened on March 27, on State Highway 18 near Grandfalls.

DPS said Anatalio Molina Gallegos, 70, of Monahans, was driving a pickup truck at an unsafe speed around a curve on the highway while Michael Anthony Navarrette, 49, of Monahans, was riding a motorcycle along the same curve. Shawn Zachery Reid, 64, of Brownfield, was driving a pickup truck behind the motorcycle.

Gallegos crossed over into the southbound lanes, and Navarrette laid down his bike to avoid a crash. The two pickup trucks then collided.

Gallegos was killed in the crash.

Navarette and Reid were taken to hospitals in stable condition.

The road conditions were dry and clear at the time of the crash.

The DPS is investigating the crash.
