Ashton Hutchison Killed in NE Austin Bicycle Crash on East Parmer Lane and Harris Branch Parkway; Alexis Acevedo Arrested

Austin, Texas – The bicyclist who was killed earlier this month in a hit-and-run accident in northeast Austin has been identified as 31-year-old Ashton Hutchison, according to the police.

The fatal crash happened on December 12, on East Parmer Lane and Harris Branch Parkway.

Police said 19-year-old Alexis Acevedo was allegedly driving when he crashed into another vehicle and a bicycle.

Acevedo allegedly fled from the scene. The other driver remained at the scene and cooperated with the investigators. 

The bicyclist, Hutchison, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Acevedo was arrested and was charged with possession of a controlled substance and accident involving death, which are both felonies. He remained in jail on a combined bond of $60,000.

The police are investigating the crash.
