Bicyclist Killed in Hit-and-Run on South 14th Street in Abilene; Luciano Tapia Arrested

41-Year-Old Man Killed in South Abilene Bicycle Accident on South 14th Street; Luciano Tapia Arrested

Abilene, Texas – According to a local news source, a bicyclist was killed Wednesday night in a hit-and-run accident in South Abilene.

The deadly accident happened around 10:39 p.m., March 13, in the 1600 block of South 14th Street.

According to the report, a 41-year-old man was riding his bicycle westbound on the street when a vehicle hit him and fled the scene.

The man was pronounced dead at the scene. His name has not been released.

Police identified the vehicle by a piece that fell off during the crash. They discovered the vehicle and driver in a south Abilene neighborhood the same evening. 28-year-old Luciano Tapia of Abilene was arrested and charged with second-degree felony accident involving death before being transported to Taylor County Jail.

The crash remains under investigation.
