Margaret Reavis, Letha Frost Killed in Car Crash on Hwy 31 in Smith County

Margaret Reavis and Letha Frost Killed in Smith County Two-Vehicle Crash on Highway 31 and FM 757

Smith County, Texas (September 25, 2023) – Two people were killed, and two others were injured Friday morning in a two-vehicle crash in Smith County, according to the Texas DPS.

The fatal crash happened on September 22, on Highway 31 and FM 757, about 10.5 miles east of Tyler.

DPS said a Honda was traveling eastbound in the right lane while a Dodge Ram was traveling behind in the left lane.

The Honda tried to make a U-turn and collided with the Dodge. They both stopped in the westbound lanes.

The Honda driver, Margaret Reavis, of Texarkana, Arkansas, and passenger, Letha Frost, of Tyler, were pronounced dead at the scene. The 3-year-old passenger in that car was taken to the Children’s Hospital in Dallas with incapacitating injuries.

The Dodge driver, Ronnie Wilcoxson, was taken to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Everyone involved in the crash was wearing their seatbelts.

The crash closed the highway for several hours.

The DPS is investigating the crash.
