Rafael Martinez Valladares Killed in Magnolia Three-Vehicle Crash at FM 1488 and Community Road; Daniel James Hathaway Arrested

Magnolia, Texas (March 5, 2023) – One person was killed Thursday evening in a DWI crash in Magnolia, according to the authorities.

The fatal crash happened around 6:30 p.m., March 2, at the intersection of FM 1488 and Community Road.

Authorities said a Honda SUV was traveling on Community Road while an Infiniti SUV and a GMC truck were traveling on FM 1488.

The Honda driver ran a stop sign and collided with the other two vehicles.

The GMC driver, 26-year-old Rafael Martinez Valladares of Waller, was killed in the crash.

The driver of the Infiniti was taken to the hospital for treatment.

The Honda driver, 38-year-old Daniel James Hathaway, was taken into custody on suspicion of DWI and has been charged with intoxication manslaughter with a vehicle. He was uninjured in the crash.

The authorities are investigating the crash.
