Floyd County, Texas (June 23, 2021) – Three Wayland Baptist University students were killed Saturday afternoon in a two-vehicle crash in northwestern Floyd County, according to the deputies.

The three people in the SUV were pronounced dead at the scene. They have been identified as Brian Anthony Anderson, 24, of Little Rock, California, Christian Angel Orozco, 20, of Saginaw, and Elena Mia Vasquez, 19, of Houston. The three were affiliated with the Wayland Baptist University‘s wrestling program.

The semi-truck driver was taken to W.J. Mangold Memorial Hospital in Lockney with minor injuries.

The crash remains under investigation.

Common Causes of Automobile Accidents

While there are many causes of car accidents, the most common reasons of driver negligence include driver inattention; cell phone use; texting and driving; speeding; fatigue; failure to yield the right of way from a stop sign or private drive; running a red light; and driving while under the influence of alcohol or drugs,” Attorney Joel A. Gordon said. Mr. Gordon believes that an independent investigation is important. An Attorney will help obtain the crash report, secure accident photos, interview witnesses, and create a claim.
