Brian Downes Killed in 2-Car Rollover Crash on U.S. 87 in Moore County

Brian Downes ID’d as Man Killed in Moore County Crash on U.S. 87 near Dumas
Moore County, Texas (February 26, 2019) – The man who was killed Sunday night in a traffic accident in Moore County has been identified as Brian Downes, 40, of Oxford, Iowa, according to authorities.
The tragic crash took place at around 10:20 p.m. Sunday, February 24 on U.S. 87, approximately one mile east of Dumas.
According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, Downes was driving a 2017 Ford F-250 westbound on U.S. 87 behind a 2002 GMC Envoy driven by Zackery Marroquin, 22, of Dumas.
Downes failed to control his speed and rear-ended the Envoy. The force of the impact caused the Ford to veer off the road and rolled multiple times.
Downes, who was not wearing his seatbelt at the time of the collision, was ejected from his vehicle. He was declared deceased at the scene.
Marroquin and a passenger in the Envoy were uninjured in the crash.
Texas DPS is investigating the accident.
