Calvin Dukes Killed in Austin Pedestrian Accident on State Highway 45

Austin, Texas (May 9, 2021) – The man who was killed last month in a hit-and-run crash in Austin has been identified as Calvin Ray Dukes, 62, according to the police.

The deadly accident happened on April 20, on State Highway 45.

Police said Dukes was experiencing homelessness and was pushing a shopping cart across the highway when he was hit by a grey 2010 Lexus. 

The Lexus driver fled the scene on foot.

Dukes was pronounced dead at the scene.

The police are investigating the crash. Anyone with any information about the crash is asked to call APD’s Vehicular Homicide Unit Detectives at (512) 974-4424.
