Jefferson County, Texas – Two people were killed Friday morning in a wrong-way crash in Jefferson County, according to the DPS.

The fatal crash happened just before 2:00 p.m., June 14, on Highway 69 between Beaumont and Nederland.

DPS said Salvador Gamez, 51, of Brownsville, was driving a pickup truck southbound in the northbound lanes of the highway when he crashed head-on into a small passenger car.

The car caught on fire after the collision.

The driver and passenger of the car were killed in the crash. They have been identified as Camille Marti, 21, of Beaumont, and Loren Icenhower, 25, of Beaumont.

Gamez was taken to the hospital for treatment. Once he is released, he will be arrested and charged with two felony counts of Intoxication Manslaughter.

The troopers are investigating the crash
