Carol Hardy Killed, Kayden and Christopher Stephens Injured in New Caney Car Crash on US-59 near Roman Forest Blvd

New Caney, Texas (February 27, 2021) – A mother was killed, and other people, including his teenage son, were injured Thursday night after a tire flew off a pickup truck and crashed into her vehicle in New Caney, according to authorities.

The deadly accident happened around 7:00 p.m., February 25, on US-59 near Roman Forest Blvd, about 30 miles north of Houston.

Authorities said a Dodge truck was traveling northbound on the highway when its front left tire came off, crossed into the southbound lane, and crashed through the windshield of a GMC Sierra driven by Carol Hardy, 52.

After the tire struck the Sierra, Hardy rear-ended a Buick Lacrosse driven by Christopher Stephens, 42, of New Caney.

Hardy was pronounced dead at the scene. Her 17-year-old son, Kayden, was taken to the hospital with serious injuries. They were on their way home from a baseball tournament in Lufkin when the crash happened.

A GoFundMe page set up on the family’s behalf.

Stephens was taken to Memorial Hermann (Kingwood), where he was treated and released.

The Dodge driver, a 16-year-old Cleveland boy, was uninjured in the crash.

The troopers are investigating the crash.

“When a person has suffered a grave personal injury in an accident due to someone else’s negligence, the most overwhelming emotion they feel is a sense of injustice. They often ask how such a life-altering event could have happened to them,” attorney Joel A. Gordon said. “The next question usually is, who can help me?” Mr. Gordon added.

A legal advocate can represent an injury victim or the family of a deceased victim. The attorney will file a claim on behalf of the victim and will have the responsibility of citing existing codes, laws, or statutes which were violated.
