The crash happened just before 5:30 p.m., September 21, in the 4000 block of East 42nd Street.

Police said Charles Belcher, 61, of Sulphur Springs, was riding a Harley Davidson motorcycle westbound when he rear-ended a GMC Sierra pickup that was stopped for construction.

Belcher was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries.

The GMC driver, a 60-year-old Wyoming man, was uninjured in the crash.

The OPD is investigating the crash.

We wish Charles Belcher a quick recovery.

Most motorcycle crashes are caused by negligent drivers who don’t keep a proper lookout or fail to yield the right-of-way. Because motorcyclists are vulnerable, their injuries are usually severe, often suffering from road rash, broken bones, brain injuries, amputations, or spinal cord injuries.
