Christina Saenz Killed in Smith County Two-Vehicle Crash on State Highway 110

Smith County, Texas (June 30, 2021) – According to the Texas DPS, one person was killed and another was injured Monday morning in a two-vehicle crash in Smith County.

The fatal crash happened around 11:45 a.m., June 28, on State Highway 110, northwest of the city of Tyler.

DPS said a 2019 Mitsubishi Mirage was traveling southbound on the highway while a 2014 Toyota Sienna was traveling northbound.

The Mitsubishi turned eastbound, directly into the path of the Toyota, resulting in a collision.

The Mitsubishi driver, Christina Michelle Saenz, 44, of Tyler, was taken to UT-Health East Texas in Tyler where she later died.

The Toyota driver, David McDonald, 85, of Hideaway, was taken to Christus Trinity Mother Francis Hospital in Tyler in stable condition.

The crash remains under investigation.
