Killeen, Texas (August 13, 2020) – A man was killed in a motorcycle accident Wednesday night at a Killeen intersection, according to police.

The fatal crash happened at about 8:30 p.m., August 12, at the intersection of FM 3470 and Oak Valley Drive.

Police said Corey Dean Reed Jr., 28, was riding a blue Suzuki GSX motorcycle southbound in the inside lane of FM 3470 approaching the intersection.

A Honda Civic entered the intersection in an attempt to turn into a private drive and was hit by the motorcycle on the right front.

The impact ejected Reed from the motorcycle, and he was rushed to the Carl R. Darnall Medical Center, where he later died. He was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.

The Killeen Police Department Traffic Unit is investigating the crash.

We pass our sincere condolences to the family and friends of Corey Dean Reed Jr.

Most motorcycle crashes are caused by negligent drivers who don’t keep a proper lookout or fail to yield the right-of-way. Because motorcyclists are vulnerable, their injuries are usually severe, often suffering from road rash, broken bones, brain injuries, amputations, or spinal cord injuries. In some cases, the accident results in death.
