Loving County, Texas (June 1, 2022) – Cruz Hernandez Rubiel, 22, of Llano, Texas, was among two people who were injured in a car crash that killed six people Monday morning at a Loving County intersection.

The crash happened at around 8:00 a.m. Monday, May 30, at the intersection of County Road 300 and Ranch to Market Road 652, approximately 21 miles north of Mentone.

According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, a Toyota Tundra pickup was traveling northbound on County Road 300 when the driver failed to stop for a stop sign at the intersection and crashed into the left passenger side of a 2017 F-150 Ford pickup that was traveling westbound on Ranch to Market Road 652.

After the impact, the Tundra skidded through the intersection and struck a utility pole with its right passenger side. Three back seat passengers of the Tundra were ejected from the vehicle during the crash.

The three ejected victims and the right front passenger of the Tundra were killed in the crash. The driver and the left rear passenger of the Ford F-150 also died in the accident.

Rubiel sustained serious injuries and was transported to Medical Center Hospital. Another patient was also taken to the same hospital, where he is in stable condition.

Authorities temporarily blocked the intersection for several hours as they investigated the scene.

The intersection was shut down for several hours following the wreck.

An investigation into the crash is underway.

Common Causes of Automobile Accidents

There are many different reasons why automobile, 18-wheeler, and motorcycle accidents occur, including driver negligence, driver inattention, texting and driving, speeding, fatigue, failure to yield the right of way from a stop sign or private drive, running a red light, and driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs. While the factors listed above are the main causes of most accidents, there may also be other factors involved, which is why it’s important that an investigation be conducted before evidence disappears, especially in cases involving a fatality.  At Joel A. Gordon & Associates, we will act quickly to secure accident scene photos, interview witnesses, obtain police records, and secure other valuable evidence needed to win your case.  Call now for a free consultation.
