David Eads Killed and James Malone Injured in Hunt County Ambulance Crash on U.S. 69

Hunt County, Texas (November 19, 2021) – One person was killed, and another was injured Wednesday evening in an ambulance crash in Hunt County, according to the Texas Highway Patrol.

The fatal crash happened around 7:00 p.m., November 17, on U.S. 69, north of Greenville.

Texas Highway Patrol said a rock-hauler truck was backing up across two lanes of traffic along the highway when a southbound UT Health East Texas EMS ambulance struck the trailer truck.

The driver of the ambulance, David Eads, 42, of Frankston, was killed in the crash. 

The passenger in the ambulance, James Malone, 40, of Tyler, was taken to UT Health of East Texas in stable condition.

Both Eads and Malone were on duty at the time of the crash.

The driver of the rock-hauler truck was uninjured in the crash.

An investigation is underway.
