Deena Carole Turvaville Injured in Fatal Smith County Two-Vehicle Crash on US 69 near Lindale

Smith County, Texas (March 31, 2021) – One person was killed, and another was injured Friday night in a two-vehicle crash in Smith County, two miles south of Lindale, according to the DPS.

The fatal crash happened around 9:08 p.m., March 26, on US 69.

DPS said Israel Soto, 58, of Tyler, was driving a 2002 Toyota Camry southbound on the highway when he made an unsafe left turn into the path of a northbound 2003 Chevy Suburban, causing the vehicles to collide.

Soto was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Suburban driver, Deena Carole Turvaville, 58, of Lindale, was taken to a Tyler hospital for treatment.

The troopers are investigating the crash.
