Demerrick Owens Killed in Glasscock County Car Accident on State Highway 137

Glasscock County, Texas (June 6, 2019) – The man who was killed in a two-vehicle crash last week on Tuesday in Glasscock County has been identified as Demerrick Owens, 22, of Lake Charles, Louisiana, according to the DPS.

The fatal crash happened on Tuesday, May 28, on State Highway 137.

DPS said Owens was driving a 1999 Buick Regal southbound on the highway when he left the roadway, overcorrected, re-entered the highway in the northbound lanes and collided with a northbound 2008 Freightliner truck tractor towing a semi-trailer.

Owens was pronounced dead at the scene. He was reportedly not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash.

The truck driver was not injured in the crash.

The crash remains under investigation.
