Dorothy Weaver ID’d as Woman Killed in Liberty County Crash on State Highway 105 near Moss Hill

Liberty County, Texas (June 18, 2022) – Authorities have identified the woman who died following a Thursday evening car crash in Liberty County as Dorothy “Christy” Guedry Weaver, 47.

The collision, involving three vehicles, happened at about 4:20 p.m. Thursday, June 16, on State Highway 105, just east of Moss Hill, approximately one mile from the Liberty-Hardin county line.

According to the authorities, David Dobson, 29, of Humble, Texas, was driving a Walmart tractor-trailer westbound on State Highway 105 when, for an unknown reason, the tractor-trailer collided head-on with a 2018 Chevy Silverado that was traveling eastbound, driven by Brian Gallander, 58, of Batson.

The Silverado then veered into the westbound lane, where it hit the tractor-trailer on its driver’s side. After the impact, the tractor-trailer jackknifed and traveled across both lanes.

The tractor-trailer ultimately collided with a 2011 Toyota Tundra that was heading eastbound on State Highway 105, driven by Weaver.

Weaver, a Batson resident, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Gallander was airlifted to a Houston-area trauma center in serious but stable condition. Dobson was transported by ground ambulance to Liberty-Dayton Regional Medical Center with minor injuries.

Authorities said Gallander may face criminal charges.

The crash remains under investigation.

Common Causes of Automobile Accidents

There are many different reasons why automobile, 18-wheeler, and motorcycle accidents occur, including driver negligence, driver inattention, texting and driving, speeding, fatigue, failure to yield the right of way from a stop sign or private drive, running a red light, and driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs. While the factors listed above are the main causes of most accidents, there may also be other factors involved, which is why it’s important that an investigation be conducted before evidence disappears, especially in cases involving a fatality.  At Joel A. Gordon & Associates, we will act quickly to secure accident scene photos, interview witnesses, obtain police records, and secure other valuable evidence needed to win your case.  Call now for a free consultation.
