Driver Injured in Crash with City Vehicle at Santa Maria and Matamoros in Laredo

One Injured in Laredo City Vehicle Crash at Santa Maria and Matamoros

Laredo, Texas (November 23, 2023) – A driver was injured Tuesday morning after crashing into a City of Laredo vehicle in the downtown area of Laredo, according to the authorities.

The crash was reported around 10:38 a.m., November 21, at the intersection of Santa Maria and Matamoros.

Authorities said a white Ford Expedition was traveling northbound in the 700 block of Santa Maria when it disregarded a red light and crashed into the city vehicle that was traveling eastbound in the 1500 block of Matamoros.

The Ford also struck a traffic safety box on the side of the road. The driver sustained injuries in the crash and was cited for disregarding a red light.

The crash remains under investigation.
