Elderly Man Killed in Four-Vehicle Crash on US 90 near Liberty

1 Killed, 4 Injured in Liberty 4-Vehicle Crash on US 90

Liberty, Texas (October 4, 2019) – An elderly man was killed and four others were injured in a four-vehicle crash Thursday afternoon in the river bottom between Liberty and Dayton, according to a local news source.

The fatal crash happened around 4:00 p.m. October 3, on US 90.

Authorities said the man was driving in the right-hand lane of eastbound US 90 when he veered left into the other eastbound lane, crossed the median and traveled into the path of oncoming traffic.

The man’s vehicle, which had Louisiana plates, was then hit by two 18-wheelers and a large van used for medical imaging systems.

The man was declared dead at the scene. His female passenger was taken to Liberty-Dayton Regional Medical Center with minor injuries.

The van driver was airlifted to Memorial Hermann Hospital in Houston with critical injuries. Two passengers inside the van were taken by ground ambulance to Liberty-Dayton RMC with non-life-threatening injuries.

The drivers of the two big rigs were uninjured in the crash.

The crash remains under investigation.
