Elijah Chavez ID’d as Child Killed in Harris County Car Crash at Morton Ranch Road and Elrod Road
Harris County, Texas (January 27, 2019) – The child who was killed Friday night in a traffic collision that also injured two others in west Harris County has been identified as Elijah Chavez, 6, according to the Sheriff’s Office.
The deadly crash happened at about 9:30 p.m. Friday, January 25 near the intersection of Morton Ranch and Elrod roads.
Authorities said a Honda Pilot SUV  driven by Jose Chavez, was traveling westbound on Morton Ranch Road when it turned left and was hit by a Chevrolet Camaro operated by  Rafael Quiroz, which was heading eastbound.
The force of the impact ejected a 3-year-old Nora Chavez from the SUV. She was transported to Memorial Hermann TMC, where she was listed in critical condition.
Elijah Chavez was transported Texas Children’s Hospital Katy, where he later succumbed to his injuries. His other sister, Ella Chavez, 4, was also hurt.
According to the authorities, none of the children were restrained in car seats.
An investigation into the crash is ongoing.
