Ellen Cunningham, Marcia Bench Struck, Injured by Car on Buster Chatham Road in McLennan County

Ellen Cunningham and Marcia Bench Injured in Elm Mott Pedestrian Accident on Buster Chatham Road near Angle Lane

Elm Mott, Texas (May 27, 2020) – Two women were injured in a pedestrian accident Saturday night in rural McLennan County, according to the authorities.

The accident occurred around 9:00 p.m. May 23, in the 2000 block of Buster Chatham Road near Angle Lane.

According to family members, Ellen Cunningham, 65, and her friend Marcia Bench, 68, were visiting a friend and were walking in the street when they were hit by a car.

According to initial reports, the involved fled the scene without rendering aid, but police said the case was not a hit-and-run, and the driver returned to the scene.

Cunningham and Bench were taken to Baylor Scott & White Hillcrest Medical Center with serious injuries.

Cunningham has since been released, but Bench is still in the ICU.

The authorities are investigating the crash.
