Enrique Garza Killed in Brownsville Bicycle Crash on East Elizabeth Street

Brownsville, Texas (July 24, 2021) – According to the police, a man was killed Thursday night in a hit-and-run crash in Brownsville.

The deadly accident happened around 11:30 p.m., July 22, in the 1000 block of East Elizabeth Street.

Police said Enrique Garza, 54, was riding a bike when he was struck by a white Mercedes Benz 28C driven by Jose Rocha, 36.

Garza was pronounced dead at the scene.

Rocha was arrested on July 22 and arraigned on July 23. He has been charged with Accident Involving Death a Second Degree Felony, with a bond set at $75,000, Manslaughter a Second Degree Felony, with a bond set at $75,000, and Tampering with Physical Evidence a Third Degree Felony, with a bond set at $30,000.

The police are investigating the crash.
