Eric Scarborough Killed in Car Crash on FM 1817 in Anderson County

Eric Scarborough Killed in Anderson County Two-Vehicle Crash on FM 1817

Anderson County, Texas (September 29, 2021) – According to the Texas DPS, an Elkhart man was killed Tuesday afternoon in a two-vehicle crash in Anderson County.

The fatal crash happened around 4:13 p.m., September 28, on FM 1817, 0.3 miles east of Elkhart.

DPS said a 2018 Dodge Ram was traveling eastbound on the highway while a 2004 Honda VTX was traveling westbound.

The Dodge attempted to turn left into a private drive, failed to yield the right of way to oncoming traffic, and was hit by the Honda.

The Honda driver, Eric Scarborough, 44, of Elkhart, was taken to Palestine Regional Hospital, where he later died.

The driver of Dodge has been identified as Aaron Mata, 30, of Elkhart. His condition was not disclosed.

The crash remains under investigation.
