Hudson, Texas (December 7, 2021) – A motorcyclist was injured Sunday night in a hit-and-run accident in Hudson, according to the Texas DPS.

The accident happened around 9:15 p.m., December 5, on State Highway 94, just west of Loop 287.

DPS said an early 2000 model black Chevrolet pick-up with a lift kit failed to yield to a westbound 2019 Yamaha motorcycle and pulled from a private drive into the motorcycle’s path.

The motorcycle was laid down and traveled underneath the Chevrolet.

The Chevrolet fled the scene after the accident.

The motorcyclist, Ernesto Maldonado, 28, of Lufkin, was taken to CHI St. Luke’s Hospital in an unknown condition.

The DPS is investigating the crash. Anyone with any information regarding the driver or the vehicle that fled the scene is asked to please contact the Lufkin DPS Communications Office at 936-699-7340.

Most motorcycle crashes are caused by negligent drivers who don’t keep a proper lookout or fail to yield the right-of-way. Because motorcyclists are vulnerable, their injuries are usually severe, often suffering from road rash, broken bones, brain injuries, amputations, or spinal cord injuries.
