Man in Wheelchair Killed in South Austin Pedestrian Accident on East Ben White Boulevard near South Congress Avenue

Austin, Texas (February 15, 2020) – A man in a wheelchair was struck and killed by a vehicle Friday night in South Austin, according to officials.

The accident happened around 7:15 p.m. February 14, in the 200 block of East Ben White Boulevard near South Congress Avenue.

Police said the man was in a wheelchair and was attempting to cross eastbound service road from the south curb line when he was struck by a vehicle in the middle lane.

There is no crosswalk in that part of the highway and is not well lit at night.

 The man was declared dead at the scene. His name has not been released.

The driver remained at the scene and cooperated with the investigators.

The authorities are investigating the crash.
