Fernando Alvarez Killed in Westbrook Semi-Truck Crash on FM 33

Westbrook, Texas (November 11, 2023) – One person was killed and eight others were injured on Thursday in a semi-truck crash in Westbrook, according to the Texas DPS.

The fatal crash happened on November 9, on FM 33 near mile marker 313.

DPS said Fernando Alvarez was driving a semi-truck westbound on the highway while a second semi-truck was traveling eastbound.

Alvarez failed to drive in a single lane and sideswiped the other semi-truck. Alvarez continued westbound in the eastbound lane and hit a third car.

Alvarez’s semi then jack-knifed in the middle of the roadway and the semi was rear-ended by a fourth car.

Alvarez was ejected from his semi and was killed in the crash.

The driver of the second semi-truck, Ra Nebmare Nebertcher-Bey, 49, was treated at the scene and released.

The drivers and passengers of the other two cars were taken to Scenic Mountain Medical Center in stable condition. In total eight people were taken to the hospital.

The DPS is investigating the crash.

Common Causes of Automobile Accidents

There are many different reasons why automobile, pedestrian, 18-wheeler, bicycle, and motorcycle accidents occur, including driver negligence, driver inattention, texting and driving, speeding, fatigue, failure to yield the right of way from a stop sign, or private drive, running a red light, and driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs. While the factors listed above are the main causes of most accidents, there may also be other factors involved, which is why it’s important that an investigation be conducted before evidence disappears, especially in cases involving a fatality.  At Joel A. Gordon & Associates, we will act quickly to secure accident scene photos, interview witnesses, obtain police records, and secure other valuable evidence needed to win your case.  Call now for a free consultation.
