Deaf Smith County, Texas (June 12, 2020) – Two men were killed Thursday morning in a two-vehicle crash in Deaf Smith County, northeast of Hereford, according to the DPS.

The fatal crash happened around 7:00 a.m., June 11, on FM 809.

DPS said Francisco Oliver Cabrales, 19, of Dimmitt, was driving a 1992 Dodge Dynasty northbound on the highway when he attempted to turn left into a business and turned into the path of a southbound 2009 Ford F150 driven by Chad Perry, 33, of Amarillo.

The Ford then hit the passenger side of the Dynasty. The impact caused both vehicles to travel into the westbound barrow ditch.

Cabrales and his passenger, 26-year-old Josue Quiroz of Dimmitt, were pronounced dead at the scene.

Perry was taken to Northwest Texas Hospital, where he was treated and released.

All the involved victims were wearing seatbelts at the time of the crash.

The crash remains under investigation.

We pass our sincere condolences to the family and friends of Francisco Oliver Cabrales.

Common Causes of Automobile Accidents

While there are many causes of car accidents, the most common reasons of driver negligence include driver inattention; cell phone use; texting and driving; speeding; fatigue; failure to yield the right of way from a stop sign or private drive; running a red light; and driving while under the influence of alcohol or drugs,” Attorney Joel A. Gordon said. Mr. Gordon believes that an independent investigation is important. An Attorney will help obtain the crash report, secure accident photos, interview witnesses, and create a claim.
