Phillip W. Elkins Killed in Callahan County Motorcycle Crash on FM 603 near Clyde

Callahan County, Texas (December 22, 2020) – A man was killed in a motorcycle accident Sunday evening in Callahan County, 5.5 miles southwest of Clyde, according to the Texas DPS.

The fatal crash happened around 6:00 p.m., December 20, on FM 603.

According to a preliminary investigation, George F. Walker, 82, of Clyde, was driving a 2001 Ford pickup truck southbound on the improved shoulder of the highway while Phillip W. Elkins, 67, of Clyde, was riding a 2013 Harley Davidson motorcycle also southbound.

Elkins moved into the northbound lanes to pass the pickup truck when Walker turned left towards a private drive and hit the motorcycle.

Elkins was taken to Hendrick Medical Center North in Abilene where he later died.

Walker was uninjured in the crash.

The authorities are investigating the crash.
