Frida Nunez-Garza ID’d as 1 of 2 Women Killed in Pharr Crash on Jackson Road near Whalen Road

Pharr, Texas (August 8, 2022) – Authorities have identified one of the two women who died following a head-on crash early Sunday morning in Pharr as Frida Nunez-Garza, 21.

The deadly crash happened at around 1:11 a.m. Sunday, August 7, on S. Jackson Road, just south of Whalen Road.

The Texas Department of Public Safety said Nunez-Garza was driving a white Honda Accord southbound in the northbound lanes when she collided head-on with a beige GMC Terrain.

Nunez-Garza was pronounced dead at the scene, while the driver of the GMC was taken to a nearby hospital, where she later succumbed to her injuries.

Both drivers were the sole occupants of their vehicles.

The DPS is investigating the crash.
