Gladys Xaipot-Lopez Killed in Sherman County Two-Vehicle Crash on FM 297

Sherman County, Texas (August 31, 2019) – A woman was killed Wednesday morning in a two-vehicle crash in Sherman County near Cactus, according to a local news source.

The fatal crash took place on Wednesday, August 28, on FM 297.

DPS said Jesus Cid-Rubio, 27, of Stratford, was driving a semi-truck westbound on FM 297 while Gladys Xaipot-Lopez, 23, of Dalhart, was driving a 2003 Dodge Caravan eastbound.

For unknown reasons, Xaipot-Lopez veered into the westbound lane and crashed head-on into the semi-truck.

Xaipot-Lopez was declared dead at the scene.

Cid-Rubio was uninjured in the crash.

The crash remains under investigation.
