Bicyclist Killed in Crash on SH 71 in SE Austin near ABIA

One Killed in SE Austin Bicycle Accident on SH 71 near Austin-Bergstrom International Airport 

Austin, Texas (August 3, 2020) – One person was killed early Monday morning in a bicycle accident in Austin, near the Austin-Bergstrom International Airport, officials said.

The accident was reported at about 5:50 a.m. in the westbound lanes of the 1500 block of SH 71, just east of U.S. 183.

Officials said the crash involved a vehicle and a bicycle.

The adult bicyclist was pronounced dead at the scene. Their identity has not been released.

All westbound lanes on E SH 71 were forced northbound on 183 near ABIA.

No further details regarding the crash were provided.

An investigation is ongoing.
