Hector Martinez Killed in Nacogdoches County Two-Vehicle Crash on FM 1878; Kelly Poole Arrested

Nacogdoches County, Texas (January 26, 2022) – One person was killed, and another was injured Tuesday morning in a two-vehicle crash in Nacogdoches County, according to the authorities.

The fatal crash occurred around 7:20 a.m., January 25, on Farm-to-Market Road 1878, approximately two miles northeast of Nacogdoches.

Authorities said a 2018 Ford SUV was traveling southwest while a 2000 Nissan pickup was traveling northeast. The SUV was passing multiple vehicles in a no-passing zone, and when it approached the Nissan, both vehicles swerved into the eastbound ditch where they collided.

The Nissan driver, Hector Martinez, 41, Nacogdoches, was pronounced dead at the scene. 

The SUV driver, Kelly Poole, 37, of Nacogdoches, was taken to Nacogdoches Medical Center for treatment. She was arrested on Thursday, April 28, on a charge of criminally negligent homicide. 

The crash remains under investigation.
