Hermelinda Villegas Killed in Cameron County Two-Vehicle Crash on FM 510 near Casey Road

Cameron County, Texas (September 11, 2019) – A woman was killed and four other people were injured in a head-on crash Tuesday afternoon in Cameron County, according to the DPS.

The fatal crash happened around 12:34 p.m. September 10, on FM 510, west of Casey Road near San Jose Road.

DPS said a gold 2001 Lincoln Navigator, occupied by three people, was heading westbound when the driver failed to negotiate a curve, lost control and crashed head-on into an eastbound white 2008 Toyota Corolla with two people inside.

All five people were taken to Valley Baptists Medical Center.

Hermelinda Villegas, 57, of Mission, who was a passenger in the Toyota, was later declared dead at the hospital.

The other victims were listed in stable condition.

The crash remains under investigation.
