Humberto Ramirez Molina Killed and Shadyne Santrice Pittman Seriously Injured in Mitchell County Two-Vehicle Crash on Interstate 20

Mitchell County, Texas (May 7, 2020) – One person was killed, and another was seriously injured Wednesday morning in a wrong-way crash in Mitchell County, according to the DPS.

The fatal crash happened around 10:40 a.m., May 6, on Interstate 20, east of Colorado City.

DPS said 63-year-old Humberto Ramirez Molina of Whittier, California, was driving a 2012 Freightliner truck towing a trailer westbound when he drove through the median, through the cable system, and into the eastbound lanes.

The big rig then crashed into an eastbound 2016 Buick Verano driven by 40-year-old Shadyne Santrice Pittman of Hattiesburg, Mississippi.

The force of the impact caused the big rig to go into the barrow ditch and roll over, ejecting Molina.

Molina was pronounced dead at the scene. He was not wearing a seatbelt.

Pittman was airlifted to United Medical Center with serious injuries.

Officials said a defective front tire on the trailer might have been a factor in the crash.

The authorities are investigating the crash.

We pass our sincere condolences to the family and friends of Humberto Ramirez Molina.
