Griceldo Garcia ID’d as Man Killed in Nacogdoches Crash on Northeast Stallings Drive

Nacogdoches, Texas (February 16, 2023) – The man who died following a Wednesday evening crash in Nacogdoches has been identified as Griceldo Garcia, 69, of Nacogdoches.

The crash happened around 7:28 p.m. Wednesday, February 15, in the 2800 block of Northeast Stallings Drive.

Police said a Jeep Patriot, driven by Claudia Luna Villantes, 27, also of Nacogdoches, was heading southbound on Northeast Stallings Drive and was slowing to turn into a private drive while a Jeep Grand Cherokee, Garcia, was slowing due to the Jeep Patriot turning in front of him.

A Ford F-150, driven by Jerry Chandler, 49, also of Nacogdoches, was behind the Jeep Grand Cherokee. Chandler failed to slow down and rear-ended the Grand Cherokee, which then hit the back of the Jeep Patriot. After the crash, the Jeep Patriot veered off the roadway.

Garcia, his wife, and their 9-year-old grandson sustained serious injuries in the crash and were transported to a nearby hospital, where Garcia was later pronounced dead.

Garcia’s grandson was airlifted to a Dallas medical center and is stable. Villantes and a 5-year-old passenger suffered minor injuries.

No further details were available.

The crash remains under investigation.
