Isidro Ruiz Killed in Two-Car Crash on George Dieter in El Paso; Enrique Joel Pena Arrested

El Paso, Texas – A man was killed early Thursday morning in a two-vehicle crash in East El Paso, according to the police.

The fatal crash happened around 12:00 a.m., March 28, on George Dieter.

Police said Enrique Joel Pena, 35, of El Paso, was driving a Nissan Rouge southbound when he rear-ended a Chevrolet Metro, which was being driven by Isidro Ruiz Jr., 42, from Fabens, and was stopped at an intersection.

Ruiz was pronounced dead at the scene.

Pena sustained minor injuries. He was intoxicated at the time of the crash and was arrested and booked into the El Paso County Detention Facility with a charge of murder under a $650,000 bond. He was previously convicted of DWI-related misdemeanor charges in 2012 and in 2014.

The crash remains under investigation.
