Jacob Casson Cooper Killed in Rains County Two-Vehicle Crash on State Highway 19

Rains County, Texas (March 3, 2021) – A man was killed in a head-on collision Monday morning in Rains County, according to the Texas DPS.

The fatal crash happened around 8:00 a.m., March 1, on State Highway 19, just south of Emory.

According to a preliminary investigation, Jose Manuel Rico, of Scurry, was driving a 2018 Peterbilt truck-tractor towing a semi-trailer northbound while Jacob Casson Cooper, 20, was driving a 2008 Chevrolet 1500 southbound.

Cooper lost control of his vehicle and traveled into the northbound lane where the Peterbilt crashed head-on into the Chevrolet.

Cooper was pronounced at the scene.

The authorities are investigating the crash.
