James Gordon Heckman, Diane E. Heckman Killed in Car Crash on US 77 at FM 908 in Milam County

James Gordon Heckman and Diane E. Heckman Killed in Milam County Two-Vehicle Crash on US 77 at FM 908

Milam County, Texas (August 5, 2020) – Two people were killed in a two-vehicle crash Tuesday evening in Milam County, according to DPS troopers.

The fatal crash happened around 5:38 p.m., August 4, at the intersection of US 77 and FM 908.

Troopers said James Gordon Heckman, 74, of Rockdale, was driving a 2008 Mazda SUV southeast on FM 908 approaching the intersection while a 2016 GMC Denali pickup towing an 18-foot trailer was traveling southbound on US 77.

Heckman failed to yield the right of way at the stop sign and pulled into the path of the pickup, resulting in a collision.

James and his passenger, Diane E. Heckman, 70, of Rockdale, were pronounced dead at the scene.

The pickup driver, a 34-year-old man, and his 27-year-old male passenger, were uninjured in the crash.

The crash remains under investigation.
