James Watkins, Alexia Knowles, Alicia Williams Injured in Fatal Multi-Car Accident on FM 457 in Matagorda County

4-Year-Old Girl Killed, James Watkins, Alexia Knowles, Alicia Williams and 4 Others Hospitalized after Matagorda County Crash on FM 457 near Bay City
Matagorda County, Texas (January 25, 2019) – A 4-year-old girl was killed and seven other people were hospitalized Thursday evening following  a four-vehicle collision in Matagorda County, according to the Texas Department of Public Safety.
The fatal crash occurred at about 6:40 p.m. Thursday, January 24 on FM 457, just southeast of Bay City.
According to the DPS, a 1997 Chevrolet pickup was traveling southbound on FM 457 when for reasons still under investigation it drifted into the northbound lane, where it struck a 2016 GMC pickup and a Dodge Avenger.
The Dodge then crashed into a 2013 Chevrolet pickup.
The driver of the Chevrolet, James Watkins, 37, of Brazoria, was taken to Memorial Hermann Hospital in Houston with unspecified injuries.
The Dodge driver, Alexia Knowles, 24, of Bay City, and her five passengers, Alicia Williams, 49, Chundrea Tolbert, 28, 2-year-old male, a 6-year-old male, and, 8-year-old female, were transported to Memorial Hermann Hospital in Houston in an unknown condition.
A 4-year-old female passenger of the Dodge was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the GMC, Antonio Maldonado, 41, of Bay City, was transported for injuries at the scene.
The driver of the Chevrolet, identified as Roishon Jones, 44, of Brazoria and their passengers, Latosha Jones, 37, a 5-year-old male, a 12-year-old male, and 5-year-old, were not taken to a hospital or treated for injuries.
No other details regarding the crash were immediately provided.
The crash remains under investigation.
