Jefferson County Deputy Hospitalized After Beaumont Car Crash on Eastex Freeway and Dowlen near Target

Beaumont, Texas (August 2, 2020) – A Jefferson County Sheriff’s deputy was injured in a head-on collision early Sunday morning in Beaumont, according to police.

The crash happened around 4:20 a.m. on Eastex Freeway and Dowlen near Target.

Police said a vehicle was traveling the wrong way on the freeway when it crashed head-on into the deputy’s patrol unit.

The crash impacted the vehicle of an unidentified couple.

The deputy was taken to the hospital and is expected to survive.

The wrong-way driver might have been impaired.

The crash remains under investigation.
