Jerry Baker Jr. ID’d as Man Killed in Wise County Crash on State Highway 114 at County Road 4489

Wise County, Texas (July 5, 2022) – Authorities have identified the man who died Sunday evening following a two-vehicle collision in Wise County as Jerry G. Baker Jr., 32, of Boyd.

According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, the deadly wreck happened at around 5:15 p. m. Sunday, July 3, on State Highway 114 at County Road 4489.

DPS said a 2006 Chevrolet pickup entered the intersection and stopped on State Highway 114. The Chevrolet reportedly failed to yield the right-of-way to a 2007 Ford pickup that was traveling on State Highway 114.

Both vehicles ultimately collided.

The driver of the Chevrolet, now identified as Baker, was pronounced dead at the scene. His passenger, Lora L. Cahill, 52, also from Boyd, was taken to JPS Hospital in Fort Worth in unknown condition.

The driver of the Ford was identified as Johnathan M. Irby, 38. Irby, a resident of Springtown, did not suffer any injuries in the collision.

Further details regarding the collision were immediately provided.

The accident remains under investigation.
